We are a stock company that resulted from the "Initiativkreis für Gemüsesaatgut aus biologisch-dynamischem Anbau" (Initiative for the Bio-Dynamic Cultivation of Vegetable Seed). Our stockholders’ objective is to support ecological seed cultivation. We supply exclusively ecologically and biodynamically grown seed varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers to commercial horticulture businesses and hobby gardeners. As part of a strong network, we work together in a fair partnership with growers, propagators, and gardeners. Our mission is organic farming consistently without genetic engineering and without biotechnological methods and, equally, the preservation and development of varieties as a cultural asset.
We live for people who grow, process, trade in, and enjoy natural food. As organic wholesalers, we don’t just transport your goods. We are also ambassadors of values and development partners – for suppliers, customers, and regions. For over 30 years, we have been supplying independent farm shops and health food shops in southern Germany with organic goods. With the objective of forming sustainable value creation cycles in partnerships, we connect players from farm to fork. Together, we support organic agriculture and are engaged in strengthening our natural resources: Fertile soil, species diversity, and a healthy environment.
Organic mill since 1979
The history of the Bohlsener Mühle goes back to the 13th century. 1979 – in a time when most grain mills were dying out – Volker Krause took over the family firm, converted the company to organic standards and established a consistently ecological and sustainable economic system.
Today, Bohlsener Mühle employs more than 270 employees.
In the water mill, 100% organic cereals from mainly regional producers is processed into types of flour, whole grain, and flakes. From these, in the bakery and the baking lines, the organic pioneer bakes bread & rolls, delicious cakes and pastries, as well as sweet and hearty dry baked goods and makes cereal specialties, breakfast cereals, and semi-finished products based on cereals.
Together with CEO Mathias Kollmann, who joined the business in 2019, Krause promotes what has proven itself: regional economic cycles, variety, innovative strength, and social responsibility. These are the pillars that enable sustainable business.
Building upon the basic research conducted by the Parmenides Foundation, Cognostics designs and develops AI-based methods and software tools that support the human brain in managing complexity. The goal of Cognostics' work is to expand rather than replace our innate cognitive abilities. As part of the QuartaVista innovation project, Cognostics develops new approaches to support multidimensional decision making and to validate their use in sustainable corporate governance.
Over the past two decades, the Parmenides Foundation has carried out multidisciplinary research to understand and support the ways in which the human brain is dealing with steadily increasing complexity. As a cooperation partner in the QuartaVista innovation project, the Parmenides Foundation is responsible for developing the theoretical concept framework. This concept describes an approach to incentivise and facilitate multidimensional management and decision making, and should demonstrate new ways for sustainable strategic corporate governance.
